RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. – Angels of Giving, a program that serves underprivileged residents in Ripley County, is in need of help during the holiday season.
Coordinator Shanna Joseph said the organization has nearly 300 families signed up who are in need of Christmas gifts.
“We have 35 families that I am still in need of help with,” Joseph explained. “You can adopt a family and the gift goes directly to the family.”
Interested givers can participate by other methods including:
- Donating new toys by dropping off at the Purdue Extension office at the Osgood Fairgrounds Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Monetary donations made to Angels of Giving, 2910 N. Old Michigan Road, Holton 47023. There is also an account set up at the Napoleon State Bank in Osgood.
In addition to individual donations, the organization also receives help from corporations including Hill-Rom, Forethought, Casket and Crum Trucking.
Angels of Giving held a yard sale offering some donations at a discount price in March and October to address needs outside the holiday season, Joseph said.
“I have calls around the year, so one of the reasons we do the yard sales is to help these families who cannot afford to go out and buy a big gift for the child’s birthdays,” Joseph continued. “Also, we don’t have storage, we have no place.”
“I want to help the community that is helping us, by adopting these families. So this is part of giving back to the community, by having yard sales and selling this stuff at a good price.”
