WASHINGTON, D.C. – Same-sex couples can now marry in Indiana following a surprise ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court Monday.
The court declined to hear cases on same-sex marriage in five states, meaning gay couples can now wed in Indiana, Wisconsin, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Utah.
The move means decisions by lower courts to strike down bans in those states stand.
The justices have not made a decision on gay marriage nationwide.
