A fatal motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Ripley County man.
The Versailles Republican is reporting that the accident occurred on 200 S. east of C.R. 175 W in Versailles around 5:20 p.m. on Sunday.
Investigators say the motorcycle left the north side of the road and struck a utility pole head on.
Emergency crews rushed the driver David Shaw, 53, of Versailles to Margaret Mary Health where he was pronounced dead.
Police say he was not wearing a helmet and speed appears to be a factor in the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
Services have been announced as a visitation will be held Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Versailles Church of Christ.
