In girls basketball on Saturday, East Central knocked off Chatard 64-57; Greensburg downed Jennings County 49-36; Madison beat South Ripley 59-42; and it was Triton Central over Franklin County 59-53. South Decatur at Knightstown was postponed. A makeup date hasn’t been announced.

The Orlando Magic knocked off the Indiana Pacers 135-127 in NBA action heard yesterday on WRBI. Indiana’s Paskal Siakam led all scorers with 34 points. The Pacers have lost 12 in a row and fall to 6-30 on the year. They’ll be back on the court tomorrow night at home against Cleveland.
In college basketball, Indiana topped Washington 90-80 yesterday at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers’ Lamar Wilkerson tossed in a game-high 22 points. IU improves to 11-3 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten.
The Cleveland Browns upset the Cincinnati Bengals 20-18 yesterday in the season finale for both teams. Andre Szmyt’s 49 yard field goal as time expired lifted the Browns to the win. Cleveland defensive end Myles Garrett set a new single season sack record of 23 when he got to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in the 4th quarter. Burrow threw for 236 yards, three touchdowns and an interception that was returned for a Browns TD. Bengals third-year running back Chase Brown eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark. He finishes with 1,019 rushing yards. With the loss, the Bengals end the year at 6-11.
The Houston Texans rallied to knock off the Indianapolis Colts 38-30. Colts rookie quarterback Riley Leonard made his first NFL start and threw for 270 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He also ran for another score. Indianapolis ends the season with seven straight losses and an 8-9 record after starting the year 8-2. Meanwhile, the team has confirmed that both head coach Shane Steichen and general manager Chris Ballard will be back for next season.
The College Football Playoff continues with the semifinals this week. #1 Indiana is taking on fifth-ranked Oregon in the Peach Bowl on Friday in Atlanta. The Hoosiers delivered the Ducks their only loss of the season. In other news, ESPN is reporting that former TCU quarterback Josh Hoover has committed to Indiana after visiting over the weekend. The Hoosiers grabbed several top transfer portal prospects at various positions on Sunday.
Former UC and Indiana quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who was considered the top player to enter the transfer portal when it opened on Friday, has committed to Texas Tech. Sorsby made the announcement on social media Sunday night.
