James Patrick Sterwerf, aka Hooter, 61 years old of Harrison, OH, passed away suddenly on October 22, 2025. Hooter lived life to the fullest. He had a carefree attitude and was always laughing while making those around him laugh, usually by telling a story or just being near him.
Hooter was full of love and kindness. He loved his family deeply and was the cool uncle to his nieces and nephews. He had a huge heart and was always willing to lend a hand or give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Hooter leaves behind a legacy of unforgettable memories for those that knew him. He will be deeply missed by siblings Judy (Don) Gausman, Jerry (Terry) Sterwerf, Jeff (Shari) Sterwerf, Joan (Dave) Sharpshair, and John Sterwerf; many nieces and nephews, great nieces, and countless friends. He is preceded in death by parents Joseph and Joyce (Dossenback) Sterwerf.
Services for Hooter will be held on Monday, October 27 at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 9:00am and continue until the time of the Prayer Service at 11:30am. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in Hooter’s honor can be made and will be donated to the family’s charity of choice.
