(Versailles, IN) – Ripley County Soil and Water Conservation District employees remain on the job despite the federal government shutdown.
Staff is still working but not in the USDA Service Center portion of their building in Versailles.
They also can’t answer phones or access normal work emails.
Although they can’t open the USDA Service Center, the soil and water conservation district is a sub unit of state government, and employees are considered local workers, which allows Ripley County Soil and Water Conservation District operations continue during the shutdown.
