Your Indiana’s girls’ basketball sectional pairings were drawn Sunday evening. The games begin Tuesday the 30th, and run thru February 3rd.
For the schools we cover…
In Class 4A, East Central will open against Whiteland Community, on Whiteland’s home floor, on the 30th.
Four of our schools are in the Lawrenceburg sectional in 3A– On Tuesday the 30th, South Dearborn and Batesville take each other on, and Wednesday, Greensburg faces Franklin County.
In 2A at North Decatur, Milan will play the Chargers on their home floor Friday the 2nd, and South Ripley will get the winner of a game between Hauser and Switzerland County there, too.
And in Single-A at Southwestern Shelby, South Decatur will initially face Edinburgh for the right to take on Jac-Cen-Del, and host Southwestern goes up against Oldenburg Academy.
We’ll let you know our WRBI broadcast plans in the next couple days… but this week, regular-season action continues for both the girls and the boys.
Over the weekend, Friday saw that snowstorm postpone a lot of games, but some got played. The Brownstown Central boys beat Greensburg 77 to 41 that night, and after being postponed to Saturday, South Ripley topped Milan 70 to 58. Tonight, Morristown and North Decatur play their game originally planned for Friday. Games regularly set for Saturday had the Greensburg girls beating Batesville 59-46, Indianapolis Chatard topping Franklin County 54-46, Lawrenceburg over South Dearborn 42 to 32, and South Decatur getting by Trinity Lutheran 50 to 45.
Scheduled Saturday boys’ action this week had Connersville shocking Batesville with a 3-point shooting barrage– the Spartans won it 50 to 46… also Greensburg beat South Decatur 62 to 53, Lawrenceburg topped Jac-Cen-Del 55-38, Harrison of Ohio over East Central 52 to 48, and Tri knocked off Oldenburg Academy 57-50.
Junior varsity b-ball Saturday… the Connersville boys topped Batesville by 5, and the Bulldogs’ JV girls just edged out Greensburg by 2 points.
Men’s college games Saturday– Purdue dumped Iowa 84 to 70, Ohio State beat Penn State 79-67, Oklahoma got by UC 69-65, and Sunday, Indiana State topped Murray State 72 to 63.
And last night the Suns burned the Pacers in Arizona, 117 to 110.
