The North Decatur Jr. High boys baseball team put together a fantastic game on the road against Benjamin Rush Middle School, winning 5-1. Pitching, hitting, defense, and great baserunning played a role in the Chargers win.
Ayden Sefton took the mound for the Chargers and threw an absolute gem. Sefton went 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, 6 strikeouts and walking 2 hitters. Grayson Downey finished the game to close out the win in the bottom of the seventh.
Offensively, the Chargers were led by Downey, Dekon Ramsey, and Parker Morris each collected 2 hits on the evening. Morris and Downey both had doubles in the game. North Decatur 6 bases on the evening.
Defensively, the Chargers were down a starter and had to shift some players around the field. Hayden Koehne got his first start at shortstop and played a phenomenal game. Kipton Ruf got his first start behind the plate and did a really nice job working with Sefton and Downey.
With the win, North Decatur pushed their record to 6-1 with the win against Rushville.
