H.S. baseball recaps from Saturday, April 16

The following are high school baseball recaps from Saturday, April 16.  All games are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

In high school baseball, Jac-Cen-Del’s Justin Swinney crossed the dish with the game winning run in the 11th inning as the Eagles defeated Switzerland County 8-7.

Swinney, Ryan Wilson and Brady Borgman all had three hits for JCD.  Swinney also drove in two runs.  Landon Comer and Kameron Darnold each collected two hits and two RBI.  Comer and Austin Bowling both cleared the outfield wall once.

For the Pacers, Jackson Sparks doubled and singled twice with a pair of ribbies.

Connersville lost twice to Lawrence Central, 11-0 in the opener and 22-20, yes 22-20, in game two.

In game one, Braxton Myers and Chance Bentley both had two hits.

In game two, who didn’t hit? Braydon Pearson posted four hits, while Bentley, Myers, Gavin Lynch, Gavin Pearson and Gavin Jones all had two.  Bentley’s pair included a home run.

South Ripley beat New Washington 10-8.

The Raiders got three hits and three RBI from Ryan Gorrell, two hits and a ribbie each from Gabe Block and Landon Adams, and both Dalton Smith and Trenton Smith produced two runs batted in on a hit.

Trenton Smith got the win in relief and Braxton Wilson got a three-inning save.

East Central lost both games of a double dip with Bloomington South.

In the 4-3 final from game one, Luke Moorman singled and doubled with an RBI.

In the 11-4 game two final, Ryan Bovard drove in two runs on a dinger and a single.  Moorman picked up an RBI on two hits and Braydon Rouse had a single plus a two bagger.

Oldenburg lost 6-2 at South Dearborn.

Knights pitchers Max Burger and Logan Theis held the Twisters to just two hits.  The first inning double by Griffin Pitzer scored both runs for OA.

SD’s Reese Willoughby had three hits while Corbin McHenry and Dylan Wynn both booked two.
