Batesville Boys Basketball recently held its awards banquet to celebrate the young men who put in a lot of time and effort into the program.
“They represented us well and always make me proud,” said Batesville coach Aaron Garrett. “Reflecting on the season, it was a group that I enjoyed coaching every single day. We fought multiple injuries to key guys. We continually put in new schemes on both ends and the guys did their absolute best. Our record ended at 10-13 with the guys highly competitive in most games. For the 10 games we were whole, we were 7-3.
Garrett added, “The EIAC was as good as I have seen it in my 23 years at Batesville. The sectional was so tough. We were beaten by Franklin County’s record setting team by eight points in the opening round. They went on to beat Greensburg by 16 in the second round after Greensburg had knocked out the favorite- Connersville. Lawrenceburg upset Franklin County in the championship game. It was a cool atmosphere for the boys to have the Spartan Bowl filled.”
