A new member has been elected to serve on the Ripley County Council.
Juanita “Dee Dee” Kaiser represented Batesville District 1 for seven years, however, the November 18 meeting was her last as a council member. According to The Osgood Journal, Kaiser is moving to Cincinnati to be closer to family.
In order to serve on council, an elected member must reside in their district.
“I would like to thank her for her service, she did an outstanding job,” Ripley County Council member Bill Warren said.
The Ripley County Republican Party held a caucus to fill the open seat on November 26. The majority vote went to Batesville resident Ron Decker, 51. He owns Digitech and this will be first public service experience. Decker will fill in for the remainder of the term which ends in 2014.
Council member Warren said, “I wish him all the best and look forward to working with him.”
