Brookville, IN — Several Indiana State Parks are offering the opportunity to cut up downed trees for home firewood this winter. These are dead or dying trees that the staff have taken down, and your assistance helps remove these trees from picnic areas, campgrounds and roadsides. No standing trees may be removed.
The cost per pickup truckload is $10, and a permit is required from the office at the property you plan to visit. Days and hours for cutting up these downed trees and the times that permits can be purchased vary.
Southeastern Indiana properties currently participating are
•Brookville Lake/Whitewater Memorial State Park: 11/9/20 – 2/26/21 (765-647-2657)
•Clifty Falls State Park: 2/1/21 – 3/15/21 (812-273-0609)
Call for questions about times/days that permits can be obtained as well as what wood can be cut up.
