Jesse “Darrell” Combs

Jesse “Darrell” Combs, 70, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Saturday January 2, 2021.

He was born December 7, 1950 in Whitesburg, KY, son of the late Clayton Combs and Lila (Cornett) Combs. He served his country as a member of the United States Army. He was well known in Aurora as the co- founder and owner of Combs Pizza with his wife Karen for 26 years. He was a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge #51 for 35 years. He served as the Master for two terms and also served as Secretary. Darrell enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked a well groomed lawn and enjoyed working outside. He loved to spend time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He was known for making the best gravy and biscuits, and fudge for the entire family to enjoy. Darrell was a kind and very generous person. He would help anyone in need. He will be remembered and respected for his many acts of kindness and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Darrell is survived by his loving spouse of over 50 years, Karen (Dicken) Combs; children, Carrie Combs of Aurora, IN, Jesse “Bubby” (April) Combs of Aurora, IN, Kasey (Combs) Pinto of Greendale, IN; grandchildren, Darci Combs-Garibay of Aurora, IN, Clayton, Combs of Aurora, IN, Oliver Pinto of Greendale; siblings, Norma Goodpaster of Sunman, IN, Larry Combs of Milan, IN, Sharon Combs of Milan, IN, Donald (Sue) Combs of Reddington Beach, FL, Charles (Jeanie) Combs of Sunman, IN, Tommy (Joy) Combs of WV. Darrell was a wonderful husband,dad, and Papaw. He was preceded in death by Father, Clayton Combs, Mother, Lila (Cornet) Combs, siblings, Billy Jack Combs, Glyndora Combs, Pauline Haney, and Eunice Derringer.

Friends will be received from 4:00 – 7:00 Thursday, January, 7, 2021, at the ,Hope Baptist Church, 15593 US 50, Dillsboro, IN , 47018.

Masonic services will be held at 6:30pm

Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 pm, following visitation, at Hope Baptist Church, with Pastor Tom Holt officiating.

Military services will be conducted by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard at the church.

Contributions may be made to the Aurora Masonic Lodge. If unable to attend services, please call the funeral home office at (812) 926-1450 and we will notify the family of your donation with a card.
