Statewide — Governor Eric Holcomb announced during his weekly briefing that the state will stay in Stage 5 of the Back on Track Indiana plan for the next month. Governor Holcomb reports that numbers of positivity and hospitalizations are trending as they were in the spring from 3.9% to 5.3% for a 7-day positivity rate. Hospitalizations are at the highest number since May 13.
During the conference, Dr. Kristina Box, the Indiana State Department of Health Commissioner announced that she is COVID-19 positive, as well as two members of her family.
Noticeably, Governor Holcomb and Dr. Lindsay Weaver, Chief Medical Officer at the Indiana State Department of Health, were wearing masks. As a response to Dr. Box’s positive case, members of the governor’s office and members of the Indiana Department of Health’s office will all be getting tested Wednesday afternoon. All three reiterated the need to wear masks and continue doing taking the steps to help stop the spread.
