John W. Mokanyk “Moe”, 79, Greensburg, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2020. Born, July 20, 1941 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, he was the son of William and Anastacia (Zahara) Mokanyk. John was a 1962 graduate of Greensburg High School. He served in the National Guard for six years. John retired after working 30 years at Federal Mogul (BCA) in 1993. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, helping other, and especially spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was married to Joan M. Culp on July 11, 1964 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg and she survives. He is also survived by two sons, Bill (Angela) Mokanyk, Dearborn, MI, Darren Mokanyk, Greensburg; one daughter, Julie (John T. III) Rohrig, Milan; one sister, Lena (Bill) Lathrop, South Carolina; grandchildren, John T. Rohrig IV, Daniel (Jenna) Rohrig, Samantha Rohrig, Cassidy Rohrig, William Mokanyk, Zolan Mokanyk, Angel, Traye, and Chase; great grandchildren, Thomas, Henry, and Levi Rohrig, Rosealee and Dixie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nicholas, Aleck, Jack, and John Mokanyk. While observing CDC and state guidelines for social distancing and required facial coverings, family and friends will gather at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg to pray the rosary. Visitation will follow until the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.
