Emma Weiler Competes At Trump Doral Nationals In Miami

The week of July 22nd Emma Weiler from Batesville High School competed in the Optimist International Golf Championships at Trump Doral National in Miami, Florida.  Emma earned her way to the Miami by shooting a qualifying score in both the regional and district events earlier this summer.

The regional event was held on 6/5 at North Branch Golf Course and the District event was held at the Deer Creek Golf Club on June 6/15.  Weiler was able to win both events while shooting below the minimum score to qualify for the international competition.  In Miami, Emma shot scores of 83-89-83 to finish 35 overall at the international competition.

Emma said her favorite part of the competition was the chance to play with players from around the US and other countries.  She was paired with girls from Texas, Colorado, Dominican Republic, and Ecuador.  Emma and her family would like to thank Angel Gauck-Belter, Mike Woodward, and the Optimist Club for helping with the event, including sponsoring her to reduce costs for the trip to the international competition.
