Batesville, In. — A pair of Friday incidents snarled traffic on I-74 eastbound, State Road 46 multiple streets in the Batesville area.
A single semi-truck crash and an unrelated vehicle fire forced officials to close eastbound I-74 around 5 p.m. Travelers were directed onto State Road 46 at New Point and allowed to reenter the freeway at the Batesville exit. The detour resulted in higher than normal traffic counts in Batesville on Columbus Avenue, Pearl Street and State Road 46. The road was reopened about 4 ½ hours later.
