Ohio man sentenced in Indiana drug case

Lawrenceburg, In. — An Ohio man charged with having methamphetamine and a handgun in his vehicle has pled guilty in Dearborn Circuit Court.

Dustin Heid, 34, of Addyston, was stopped by Aurora police in March of 2018. During a free-air sniff of his vehicle a police canine gave a positive indication for narcotics.

Police found two loaded handguns, six syringes, cotton swabs, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia.

“Our law enforcement community and this office is committed to aggressively investigating and prosecuting all cases involving the use and possession of illegal drugs.  That is particularly true anytime a weapon is involved,” said Deddens, Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney.  “Thank you to the 14 citizens from Dearborn County who were selected to serve as jurors in this case and were instrumental in helping bring this matter to a successful conclusion.”

Heid was sentenced to seven years with the Indiana Department of Corrections.
