Batesville Area Resource Center officially opens

Batesville, In. — About 45 people and community leaders gathered for the ribbon cutting of the Batesville Area Resource Center Friday. The building will now house the offices of six community outreach organizations and the food pantry.

The food pantry is a big improvement over the former location. There is now ample storage space and enough electrical capacity to handle enough freezers to handle the 219 families that receive food, paper goods and personal care products each month.

The facility also houses One Community, One Family, Choices, Southeastern Indiana Economic Opportunity Corporation, Project T-3, River Valley Resources and a health clinic. The layout encourages collaboration and adds efficiencies to the process of access social services.

The facility was donated for the project by Doug Bessler and Ron Fledderman. The building was dedicated in the name their mothers- Eucice Fledderman and Agnes Bessler.
