Lawrenceburg, In. — It was bitter cold outside, but the Dearborn County Hospital Birthing Center was filled with warm hearts upon the arrival of its first baby delivered in 2018, Tucker Wayne Rae Smith, on January 1. Delivered at 8:34 p.m. by Amanda Parker, Certified Nurse Midwife/Nurse Practitioner with the Women’s Center/DCH Physician Partners, Tucker weighed 8 pounds and was 20½ inches in length.
Tucker is the son of Gabrielle Howard and Ethan Smith of Lawrenceburg. As the first baby born at Dearborn County Hospital in 2018, Tucker was presented a certificate for a $500 savings account at the Dearborn County Hospital Federal Credit Union by Angela Scudder, RN, MSN, DCH Vice President of Patient Care Services, and Jacquie Ritzmann, RN, DCH Birthing Center Manager.
The DCH Birthing Center features seven private LDRPN (labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum, nursery) suites. Attractively decorated antepartum and postpartum rooms are also available as is a special OB triage room designed for mothers who come to the unit for short term observation, premature labor or other special needs.
