Lambert E. Scheele, age 84 of Oldenburg, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Waters of Batesville. Born June 3, 1933 in Oldenburg, he is the son of Clara (Nee: Simmermeyer) and Harry Scheele. Lambert served in the army during the Korean War and following the service would go to work at Hillenbrand Industries as an Inventory Controller until his retirement. He married Dolores Barnhorst June 30, 1962 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg and was a member of the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183, the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 and the Oldenburg Knights of St. John Commandry #220.
Lambert’s greatest pleasure was time with his children and grandchildren. He loved attending their functions and activities and seeing them excel so he could dote on them. For many years he and Dolores put out a large garden and he liked putting jig saw puzzles together. In his younger years, Lambert hunted squirrels and did some fishing. When the kids were little, Lambert would take them fishing and spend the afternoon running between the four of them taking fish off hooks and re-baiting them until he was worn out. Those days would become known as the family vacation.
Lambert is survived by his wife Dolores; daughters Roberta Weisenbach of Morris, Theresa Scheele of Oldenburg; sons Edward of Green Castle, Indiana, Michael of El Cajon, California; sisters Mary Scheele and Clara Becker, both of Cincinnati, Alice Stenger of Brookville, Irene Tebbe of Greensburg and four grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his daughter Patricia and brother Charles.
Visitation is Monday, December 4th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home with a prayer service conducted at 4 p.m. by the Oldenburg Knights of St. John. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 5th at Holy Family Church with Rev. Carl Langenderfer O.F.M. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the Batesville V.F.W. and the Prell-Bland American Legion. The family requests memorials to the Holy Family Cemetery Fund.
