Otis D. Walston, 75, of Rexville passed away at 3am, Sunday, March 26, 2017 at his home. He was born near Patriot in Switzerland County on July 8, 1941 the son of James V. and Gladys Beach Walston. Survivors include five brothers William Walston of Rexville, John (Linda) Walston of New Marion, Ernest (Debbie) Walston and Kenneth (Elaine) Walston both of Versailles, and Russell Walston of Rexville; ten sisters Rose Moody and Essie Walston both of Madison, Mary Leach of Holton, Dorothy (Louis) Kieffer of Osgood, Alta (Nelson) Harmeyer of Greensburg, Edith (Ray) Gunter of Holton, Ethel (Kenneth, Jr.) Bush of Rexville, Margaret Glenn of North Vernon, Lelah (Ernest) Bush of Versailles, and Betty (Michael) Meyer of Benham; 35 nieces and nephews, 58 great-nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James V. Walston, Jr. Mr. Walston was a farmer in the Rexville area for several years and retired after 33 years as a bus driver for the South Ripley School Corporation. It is estimated that he would have bussed over 1500 children to school during his tenure with the South Ripley Schools. Otis enjoyed wood working, fishing, bowling, and going to auctions. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 30th at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Tommy Beatley officiating. Burial will be in the West Fork Cemetery near Rexville. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.
