Arlene M. Flodder, age 72 of Batesville, died Thursday, January 12, 2017 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus. Born January 11, 1945 in Batesville, she is the daughter of Rose (Nee: Moeller) and Art Flodder. She was a member of St. Louis Church and was a welder at Batesville Tool & Die for 20 years.
Arlene was a natural care giver. She took care of both parents until their deaths and for many years had a day care where she enjoyed looking after the little ones. It was just her nature to do what she could for others. Some of her interests included flower gardening, working crossword puzzles, golfing and reading romance novels. According to her family, she had a weakness for chocolate, candy and root beer. They also said she liked dreaming up remodeling ideas for the house and apparently had a cleaning addiction.
She is survived by daughters Cynthia Woods of Minden, Louisiana, Lisa Benjamin of Alexandria, Louisiana, Wenda Woolf of Minden, Louisiana, Jerri Ann Hixson of Batesville; sisters Judy Tonges and Jackie Fledderman, both of Batesville; brother Dan Flodder of La Porte, Indiana; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother Jim Flodder.
Visitation is Tuesday, January 17th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 18th at St. Louis Church with Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Ripley County Humane Society of Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research.
