RIPLEY COUNTY, Ind. — A local business is asking for donations to help citizens in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
Kristi Crum with Crum Trucking says, “I got the idea Tuesday night. I was actually in the shower and I thought to myself, there’s people that don’t get to have water right now. All the firefighters down there are sweating and everything, and they don’t get to relax. I said, ‘You know we take this for-granted.’ So i got with the owners at Crum and I asked if we could do something, and they told me yes. So we started off on Facebook and it spread all over. It just went pretty viral. I’m really looking forward to being able to help out all these people that have been devastated by this. I can’t imagine loosing everything with something like that, that just came out of nowhere.”
Crum will be taking your donations until noon on Friday December 9 at their headquarters in Batesville.
They are asking for the following:
- bottled water
- Gatorade
- chap-stick
- diapers (children and adults)
- baby wipes
- baby formula
- hand sanitizer
- toiletries
- non-perishable items
- tooth brushes
- tooth paste
- towels
- blankets
A couple of Ripley county residents are also doing the same.
Tina Humphrey-Gray and Char Palmer will be accepting donations Friday (12/2) from 5 to 8 at the Ripley County Fairgrounds in Osgood.
In a Facebook post, Palmer says, “We attend car show there twice a year and vacation with our grand kids every year we hold this place dear to our hearts. Since we have jobs and are unable to be there to help we feel this is one small way we can help. We all can help in one BIG way and that is through prayer!!! Families have lost loved one, their homes and businesses and possibly jobs.
Thank you all so much for your help and support, this is what makes us a great nation. When we all come together in a time of need. May God bless each and everyone!”
You can drop of donations at building number 12.
They are asking for the same items as Crum, and will also be taking cash donations as well.
