8th Grade Lady Bulldogs defeated East Central last night in the second round of the SEI tournament, 24-16. Lady Bulldogs fought from start to finish on both ends of the floor. Second-half defensive pressure and team help-side kept the Trojans from scoring and led to points on the offensive end. Bulldogs were led by Molly Gesell with 9 rebounds and Maggie Jelinek with 8. Impressive shutdown defense from Hailee Weisenbach and Jersey Trenkamp on the East Central guards to keep them very limited. Leading scorers were Weisenbach with 6 points, Obermeyer and Jelinek with 5, and Gesell and Trenkamp with 4. Bulldogs will face South Ripley in the championship Thursday night at Batesville.
