
He is survived by his five children, Alan Mason Beck (Ginger), Kathleen Beck Hurwitz(Barry), G. Andrew Beck (MaryJo), Cynthia Anne Reddell (Pat), and James Merrill Beck (Todd), his two foster children Lisa and Steve Machoian, and six grandchildren Eli and Joshua Hurwitz (Gladys), Michal Knight, Alexandra Reddell, Will Reddell (Robyn), and Mason Beck. His first great-grandchild Maya Isabelle Hurwitz was born in July of 2015. His brother Merrill Beck preceded him.
Al was a WWII veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart, and after graduating from IU moved to Silver Spring, Maryland where he worked for the US Treasury Department for many years. Al and Kitsy relocated to Batesville in 1976 where he proudly served as Clerk-Treasurer for the city of Batesville for several terms.
“Grampy” who loved bridge, golfing, and heading to the Riverboat for an afternoon of card playing (and usually winning) will be greatly missed by all who knew him and his family who loved him dearly.
Visitation is Wednesday, April 27th from 5pm to 8pm with funeral service at 11am on Thursday, all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Rev. Charles Flory officiating with burial to follow in the St. Mark Church Cemetery with military grave side rights.
