The 7th grade St. Louis Lady Cardinals traveled to Aurora Thursday night to take on the St. Lawrence Lady Panthers.
The Lady Cardinals got off to a slow start and were down 6-2 early in the first quarter. Following a time-out, St. Louis regained their focus and the lead to build a 7-6 advantage at the end of the first stanza.
The Lady Panthers and Lady Cardinals traded baskets and turnovers during the second and third quarters.
St. Louis held a 20-16 lead to start the 4th quarter. St. Lawrence could not handle the defensive pressure of the Lady Cardinals in the 4th quarter and only mustered a basket. The final score had St. Louis prevailing 27-18.
Aubrey Baker led all scorers with 13 points. Mary Kara Wanstrath added 7 points. Ava Becker had 6, and Maggie Tekulve scored 1 point Thursday evening. The Cards are back in action Monday night against Batesville in the SEI tournament.
