Southeastern, Indiana — Hot temperatures and high humidity has caused the National Weather Service to issue a Heat Advisory for much of Southeastern Indiana and Southwestern Ohio.
The Heat Advisory will be in place from 10 a.m. this morning until 8 p.m. tonight. Heat Index Values of up to 103 degrees are expected today. The hot temps and high humidity could cause heat illnesses to occur.
It is recommended you drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. It is also advised that young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. You should also take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency; call 9-1-1 if you or someone you’re with is experiencing heat stroke symptoms.
