John Edward Wallpe, 63, of Greensburg, passed on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. He was born on February 25, 1958, in Batesville, Indiana as the son of Albert and Esther (née Raver) Wallpe.
From an early age John loved to build, create, and repair anything he could. This was the passion and hallmark of his life’s work. John graduated from North Decatur High School in 1976 and went on to automotive and agricultural engine repair trade school. In 1982, he courageously started Wallpe Farm & Auto Repair and has joyfully served many customers in the community for nearly 40 years. John greatly enjoyed the friendships he had with his loyal customers and other local businesses who supported him throughout the years.
On November 7, 1987, John married his wife Lisa (née Hortemiller) at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, IN . Together, under one roof, they raised five children to whom John was very proud. He was committed to being a strong father present in their lives whether through attending school and sport events or selflessly helping in times of need. His love was expressed through the value of work that he devoted to his family. He had a God-given talent to fix anything and willingly faced any challenge presented to him.
Most recently, John enjoyed being outside on his homestead raising his own crops of blueberries, peaches, apples, and endless supply of garden vegetables to help serve his family. His grandchildren truly gave him that memorable smile that will be greatly missed. He also enjoyed spending more time with his siblings as the years have gone by.
John was a quiet man through relationships, but his heart was true. He was Godly, trustworthy, honest, faithful, gentle, patient, kind, and respectable. He provided for and protected his family well during his time. John’s legacy lives on through the many dreams his big hands created and the valuable lessons and confidence he spent teaching his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving faithful and trusting wife of 34 years, Lisa; son, Jordan (Carlee) Wallpe of Greensburg; daughters: Sarah (Levi) Rouch of Lafayette, IN; Alison Wallpe of Muncie, IN; Anna Wallpe of Greensburg; and son, Evan Wallpe of Greensburg. Lastly, he leaves behind an aunt and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
