RIPLEY COUNTY, IN — The Ripley County Tourism Bureau (RCTB) is excited to announce the first Ripley County Plein Air Paint Out on June 24 and 25 at Versailles State Park.

“En Plein Air,” the French expression that means “in the open air,” is used to describe the art of outdoor painting that captures the spirit and essence of landscapes and views in natural light.

The first time event brings artists together for Plein air painting in and around Versailles State Park, providing an amazing spectacle for visitors to watch and enjoy and an opportunity for painters to refine and showcase their talents, inspired by beautiful flowers, interesting architecture, and paint-worthy scenery of Ripley County.

Seasoned to beginning artists of all skill levels are encouraged to participate.

Artists will have opportunities to network and learn new techniques as they compete for cash awards for each level.

Registration is open with an early bird deadline of June 3.

A limited number of scholarships are available to those who would like to participate but have limited funds.

“We are excited to host the Plein Air Paint Out and look forward to seeing everyone at the free Plein Air Art Preview at Versailles State Park on June 25,” Trowbridge said.

The event is made possible by a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission, with activities made possible in part by the Columbus Area Arts Council, and the Indiana Arts Commission, which receives support from the State of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts.
