Earl Joseph Goodpaster

Earl Joseph Goodpaster, 60 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Jewish Hospital in Kenwood, Ohio.  The son of Ernest Sr. and Betty (Kimmon) Goodpaster was born on April 10, 1957 in Lawrenceburg, IN.

Earl married Shirley Gilbreath on August 3, 1991 in Milan, Indiana.  The 1977 Milan High School graduate was a member of the Church on Fire Ministries in Batesville.  Earl currently worked for Batesville Tool & Die but previously worked for Wood-Mizer for 25 years.

Family was his life and besides his wife, Shirley, his grandkids were the light of his life.  He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, whether it was Skyeler pitch softball or Taylor and Joey play football and of course, Shelby helping him cheer them on.  Being a papaw was one of the things in life he loved most.

Earl was one of the most kind-hearted men you would ever meet.  Everyone liked Earl.  He was Shirley’s other half; as she says, “he completes her circle”.  During his battle with cancer, he was an inspiration to many with the positive attitude he kept.  He was known for getting a chemo treatment one day and back to work the next.

Earl loved his dog Luke, who is also going to miss him as much as any other family member.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Maggie Henson and Samantha Teters; grandchildren Skyeler Henson, Taylor Henson (Alyssa McNeal), Shelby Ostendorf and Joey Ostendorf; along with his brother, Jeff Goodpaster (Marilyn), and sisters, Barbara Dickman and Carolyn Napier and his nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Ernest Jr., Robert and Clint Goodpaster and nephew Brian Adams.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 1-3pm immediately followed by 3pm funeral service all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville.  Pastor Evan Boyle officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Lymphoma Society c/o the funeral home.  Online condolences www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
