Two Students Awarded Sheriff’s Scholarship

Two area students were awarded $500.00 scholarships from the Indiana Sheriff’s Association Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship winners were Garrett L. Adkinson, of Holton, Garrett is the son of Aaron and Ruth Adkinson and is majoring in Criminal Justice at Ivy Tech.

Also, Joshua Nuhring, of Batesville was awarded the scholarship. He is the son of Russell and Anna Nuhring and is attending Vincennes University studying Criminal Justice.

The Indiana Sheriff’s Association awarded 38 other scholarships throughout the state for the next academic year.

The Batesville United Methodist Church, in partnership with Margaret Mary Health, will soon be offering a cancer support group whose goal is to ensure access to valuable community resources to those living with cancer. The group will also provide hope, encouragement, education and sanctuary. HOPE will meet on the last Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM at the Batesville United Methodist Church and will feature a guest speaker, time for topic discussion and fellowship. The Batesville community and beyond are invited to attend! The first session is scheduled for Thursday, June 26 and will feature a discussion around the emotional rollercoaster of cancer and the fear of recurrence.
