Police Seeking Info On Armed Female Hitchhiker

FRANKLIN COUNTY – Authorities are hoping somebody has information about a female hitchhiker after an armed robbery and carjacking.

Police say a man picked up the woman along U.S. 52, near Holland Road around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Once inside the vehicle, the female hitchhiker allegedly pulled a gun on the man and attempted to rob him.

The man pulled off to the side of the road near Cedar Grove and flagged down another vehicle for help.

The woman is believed to have ordered the second driver out of his car and then later took off in the second vehicle.

One of the male victims was treated for minor injuries after being struck by the fleeing vehicle.

Police found the abandoned car on Little Cedar Road, off of U.S. 52. A subsequent police search of the area with K-9 units did not turn up the suspect.

Franklin County detectives are asking anyone who may have seen a female hitchhiker in the area Monday afternoon, or have information, to contact them. They can be reached at (765) 647-4138.
