GREENDALE – Investigators say a man tricked a gas station employee out of $4,700 in Greendale Monday.

An employee at Ameristop on S.R. 1 and U.S. 50 answered a phone call from a person who appeared to sound like the gas station owner, authorities say.

The caller requested a money deposit that his nephew would pick up.

Police say the money was placed in deposit bags and a person who claimed to be the owner’s nephew picked up the cash totaling $4,778.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Greendale Police at (812) 537-1321.
