(Batesville, IN) – The Southeastern Indiana YMCA held an Open House Thursday afternoon to celebrate the opening of the Makerspace and new Rec Room.
“For those of you who haven’t been in the Y in a few months, if you come in and you go down the stairs, you’re going to see a whole new space,” said Y CEO Tara Britton. “We are excited to offer STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) classes in the Makerspace for senior adults and for youth.”
On the other side of the Rec Room are some areas that are for family engagement and for youth gatherings.
The design and construction project began just under a year ago.
Britton says the project was funded by a $25,000 from Hillenbrand Foundation grant and another $25,000 from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation, with the rest coming through program revenues.
