Rita Wuestefeld , 90, of St. Leon, IN passed away on Sunday, December 16. Rita loved Christmas time…the decorating, all the lights, getting family together and celebrating the birth of Christ. Every year about this time she would make her trip to Hallmark and add to her dancing snowmen collection. Rita also loved to read and enjoyed sitting on her swing at night eating ice cream while watching the cows and the cars go by. Rita loved popcorn, and around Halloween Rita was known as the “popcorn lady” because she would bag it up and pass it out to all the kids.
Rita leaves behind her sons Dennis (Joanie) of St. Leon, David (Betty) of St. Leon, Ron (Arleen) of St. Leon, Roger (Kelly) of Harrison, and daughters Diane Kaehler of St. Leon and Sharon Chaney of Colerain. She also leaves behind her sister Beanie Andres of St. Leon, Sister-in-Laws Rita Berger of Cincinnati and Alice Hughes of New Alsace. Rita is preceded in death by her husband Ralph Wuestefeld, sisters Marcella Pessler, Lucille Weisbrodt, Dorothy Blomer, and brothers Andrew Weisbrodt, Frank Weisbrodt, Walter Weisbrodt.
Rita was a former member of St. Joseph’s Ladies Sodality. Memorials can be made to All Saints Parish, St. Jude’s Children’s Fund and Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation will be held at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home on Thursday, December 20 from 9:00am – 12:00pm, beginning with rosary at 9:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30pm All Saints Parish, St. Joseph’s Campus in St. Leon, with committal service immediately following.
