Unfortunat ely this rating was after my 2nd poor experience for breakfast. My first experience was the week they opened. So, I thought we would try it again. ...Same unsatisfac tory experience . One person at my table ordered pancakes, they came out slightly uncooked. Enough that they only ate the edges. Same situation for another guest with me that ordered french toast. Could only eat the edges. This all could have been fixed by a more attentive waitress. If she would have even came to the table once after we received our food (from someone other than our waitress) - maybe she would have noticed people not eating. Received cold coffee, just an all around poor experience . Very disappoint ed, and I will not be returning. See More

Ate there with a group on September 13. My neighbors were happy with their sandwiches (chicken salad and Reuben) but my other friend thought the salmon tacos w...ere overpriced for the amount and my roasted chicken with gnocchi should have been called gnocchi with a touch of chicken and vegetables . Way too much pasta to be excellent in taste. Our waiter did not refill our water glasses or offer a refill on coffee. He seemed clueless on service. I will not make an effort to stop there again. We went here for dinner several weeks ago. We were very pleasantly surprised with the new décor. Much more modern and elegant than we were expecting. Our ser...ver was Melissa and she was excellent! My husband and father both got the Best Wurst platters and thought they were very good. My mother got the beef stroganoff and liked it. I had the chicken gnocchi - was good but very filling. We shared the beer cheese appetizer and it was excellent. My husband had the onion soup and, though sweeter than expected, very nice! Will definitely be back! See More

Our party of 4 visited the Sherman House last evening for the first time since it reopened. I was so excited to hear of the reopening - this was a favorite pla...ce of my parents - their "Go to" place for very special occasions. Upon hearing my stories of visits here, our 12 year old grandson decided this was where he wanted his birthday dinner. Everything about our visit was great - excellent food, service, and decor. I was so happy to see the decor had essentiall y remained the same as I remember. We had early dinner reservatio ns so were the first to be seated in our dining area but the entire restaurant was busy by the time we left. I have to recommend the onion soup - it was sooo good!! Two in our group had the Sauerbrate n, one had the roasted pork, and I had the Ruby Red Trout. All meals were delicious. Nothing but empty plates at our table. Our grandson opted for desert - the Creme Brulee - and nothing but rave reviews for it as well. Even our after dinner coffee was wonderful. Our server, Ashwin, was very attentive and effecient despite being increasing ly busy as the evening progressed . We drove 80 miles to eat here and do not regret our decision at all! In fact, we are already talking about when we can visit next. See More

I am from Virginia Beach Virginia and I have been in town; for two weeks now, for training. Every weekday; since I've been here, I have been eating lunch at t...he Sherman House. I have found the personnel to be friendly; the service fantastic; the food wonderful and the prices extremely reasonable . I can see why this restaurant has been a pillar in the community of Batesville . I am asking all Christians to pray for the employees of this resturant as well as the business. May God bless them and keep this business profitable so it will continue to be a shining family resturant for the people of Batesville to gather. See More

The server was sweet but clueless. Ordered crab dip as an appetizer. It was runny and the chips were stale. The burger descriptio n makes you think you're gettin...g an awesome house made patty. Nope it was a preformed patty. Not what I expected a seasoned chef to allow out of his kitchen. On a positive note the deserts are awesome! See More

Five of us went for Sunday Brunch last week around 2:00pm. We called aheah of time and they said the brunch was served until 3:00pm. Surprise.. ...no brunch. We ...all ordered something different from the menu so we could compare notes And we all agreed that the food was sub-standa rd in all areas. Even compared to restaurant s of supposed lesser quality. Not well decorated and the service was poor at best. At least the place was clean!!! See More

I ate here last night for the first time. I am not kidding when I say this. The New York Strip is seriously the best steak I've ever had. I usually ask for stea...k sauce anywhere I go.. Ruth Chris.. St Elmos... I thought, let's see how this steak is without anything.. OMG! It was so Juicy and tender is was like butter, melted in your mouth! Also had the beer cheese and pretzels I believe it was, also very good! Service was excellent! Very clean friendly environmen t! I highly recommend if you've never been here that you go. I was in town for a soccer game as I live in Columbus Indiana, however I will make the hour drive just to eat at this place again! See More

Our party of four was pleasantly surprised with our lunches. We had the BLT, fish sandwich, mushroom soup with brussels sprouts, and chicken salad. Would recommend each of those to anyone who's hungry.

My wife, myself and another couple ate there Friday night the 5th and everything was very good and the service was excellent. We all ordered off the German menu, a delightful treat and our waitress was stellar.

The Date and Pear Salad with Pomegranat e Dressing, while fresh and chilled to perfection , is misnamed. It comes with a single sliver of date and fewer than 5 pear matchstick slices. Our server did begrudging ly bring a date. :-/
