Help us celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of the Imagination Library of Franklin County. Founded in 2007, Imagination Library of Franklin County partners with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to expose children to books at an early age.

Superintendent, Dr. Debbie Howell, is pleased to announce that Mrs. Gina Barker, first grade teacher at Brookville Elementary School, has been selected as the first “Educator of the Month” for the 2017-18 school year. Mrs. Barker has been teaching primary children at Brookville Elementary School for the past 17 years.
After graduating from Franklin County High School, Mrs. Barker pursued her degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University East. Since earning her Bachelor’s Degree she has taught first and second grade at Brookville Elementary and also served as an Interventionist. In addition to her Bachelor’s Degree, Mrs. Barker received Reading Recovery and CIM Intervention Training from Purdue University.
Mrs. Barker was nominated for this recognition by a parent. According to this parent, “Mrs. Barker is a very enthusiastic teacher and interacts with her students AND parents very well. She is able to adapt to different learning styles and ensure that all of her students learn. I believe Mrs. Barker goes above and beyond to give each student the opportunity to excel. Her use of Barker Bucks for rewards and penalties is very effective. She sees the best in all of her students and ensures that they see it too.”

Activity Bus Schedule 2017-2018
Activity buses for middle school students will begin operation on Wednesday, August 9th. The majority of middle school practices and activities will end at 5:30 p.m. There will be two buses, one for Mt. Carmel area students, and a second for Laurel area students.
The Mt. Carmel area activity bus is expected to arrive at the Mt. Carmel School front parking lot at approximately 6:00 p.m. Times may vary slightly each day due to the number of students riding. It is highly recommended that students call or text parents when the bus is leaving the middle school so that parents have a more accurate pick up time.
The Laurel area activity bus is expected to arrive at the Have A Bite Restaurant parking lot in Metamora at approximately 6:00 p.m. and the Laurel School front parking lot at approximately 6:10 p.m. Times may vary slightly each day due to the number of students riding. It is highly recommended that students call or text parents when the bus is leaving the middle school so that parents have a more accurate pick up time.
Activity buses shall operate Monday through Friday.
Riding the activity bus is a privilege. Behavior problems, late pick-up, etc. shall not be tolerated. Riding privileges may be revoked at any time.
