Former Ripley County Community Foundation intern Delyla Wonnell will now help tell Ripley County’s story to fellow students at Ball State University.
(Ripley County, IN) — A Batesville High School graduate has been selected to represent Ripley County on the Ball State University campus.
Delyla Wonnell, a Ball State senior and former Ripley County Community Foundation intern, will serve as the Ripley County Ambassador through Ball State’s County Ambassador Program.
Wonnell will promote Ripley County to fellow students as a place to live, work, and build a career after graduation.
“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to serve as the Ripley County Ambassador at Ball State,” Wonnell said. “Ripley County is full of rich history, unique characteristics, and exciting opportunities for the future. I look forward to sharing with others what makes our community such an exceptional place to build a life and a career.”
Connecting students with home
Ball State launched the County Ambassador Program in 2023 to connect students with their home communities across Indiana.
County ambassadors receive professional development training and learn how to communicate the value of Indiana communities. Wonnell will work with local leaders and organizations to highlight Ripley County’s career opportunities, recreational amenities, cultural attractions, and quality-of-place initiatives.
“The County Ambassador Program empowers students to become champions for the places they call home,” said Chrystal Pearson, associate director for industry engagement at Ball State University.
“By sharing their personal experiences and highlighting the strengths of their communities, ambassadors help their peers discover the many opportunities available throughout Indiana. We are thrilled to welcome Delyla to the program and look forward to seeing her represent Ripley County both on campus and beyond.”
Promoting Ripley County
Throughout the academic year, Wonnell will engage with other Ball State students, participate in ambassador training programs, create social media content, and promote the opportunities available in Ripley County.
Ripley County Community Foundation Executive Director Amy Streator said Wonnell demonstrated enthusiasm for the community and a commitment to making a difference during her time as a foundation intern.
“Her selection as a County Ambassador reflects the leadership, curiosity, and hometown pride that will serve her well as she shares the story of Ripley County with students across Ball State University,” Streator said.
Local businesses, nonprofits, schools, and community groups are encouraged to help Wonnell share Ripley County opportunities with Ball State students.
The foundation is encouraging local businesses, nonprofits, schools, organizations, and community groups to connect with Wonnell throughout the year.
They can share information about upcoming events, community initiatives, workforce opportunities, and quality-of-life assets that help make Ripley County a place to live, work, and build a career.
The partnerships will give Wonnell local stories and experiences she can share with fellow Ball State students while promoting Ripley County on campus and through social media.
