Wm. Floyd Deiwert, Jr. 95, of Greensburg passed away on February 20, 2024. He was born on June 29, 1928 in Greensburg, Indiana the son of William, Sr. and Jesse Granger Deiwert. Floyd was married to his “beautiful bride” Iris for 76 years. They had a storybook love story, one that movies are made of. She made him a milkshake and from that moment on they were inseparable, until her passing.
Floyd never strayed from hard work. He fought for his country in the Korean War on Outpost Harry as a machine gunner. He was a farmer on the family farm, raising hogs and crops. After retiring, he worked at Walmart mixing paint, was always keeping busy at home with little Projects or traveling with the family.
He belonged to the VFW, the Fraternal Order of the Masons, a member of the Eastern Star, rural couple club, and the Shrine Guild. Floyd was a past president of the Outpost Harry Survivors and enjoyed attending conventions with his fellow Outpost Harry Survivors and comrades.
Floyd was someone who you could hear from a mile away, and every time you heard his voice you immediately had a smile on your face. He never met a stranger. He had a love for life and for family that was unmatched. He never had to say with words how much he cared as he always showed it in his actions. He took so much pride in his family. He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In his life he had greatest joys and some of the deepest sorrows and He will always be remembered for his special smile and caring heart.
