Wilma Louise (Woodruff-Abplanalp) Sherman, 76, of Rising Sun, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 in Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
She was born February 8, 1941 in Switzerland County, Indiana, daughter of the late Wilford Woodruff and Viola (Mitchell) Woodruff.
Wilma stripped tobacco, worked at the shoe factory, the nursing home and the tomato factory. She was a member of the Moose Lodge of Aurora, Indiana. She loved to play BINGO, going to the boat and going for joy rides. She collected angels and dolls. She loved Christmas spent with family, especially her grandchildren.
Wilma will be sadly missed by her brother, George “Porgy” (Lucille) Woodruff of Markland, IN; sons, Marlin (Margie) Abplanalp of Patriot, IN, Mark (Cheryl) Abplanalp of Rising Sun, IN, Jeffery Powers of Rising Sun, IN; her daughters, Sharon (Steve) Turner of Patriot, IN, Carrie (Michael) Dowd of Cameron, LA., Charlotte (Bobby) Dews of East Enterprise, IN., 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Carl Abplanalp, Vernon Powers and Ernie Sherman, children, Pamela Dews and Harry Abplanalp, siblings, Louie Woodruff, Wilford Woodruff, Johnny Mac Woodruff,Linda Richards and Wanda Johns.
Friends will be received Thursday, April 13, 2017, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, Indiana.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home, Friday, April 14, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jim Jenkins officiating.
Interment will follow in the Wilmington Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.
