Willkie to Speak at Byway Association Annual Dinner

(Whitewater Valley, IN) – The Whitewater Valley Scenic Byway Association invites the community to the organization’s annual dinner on Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. at Third Place on Main Street in Brookville.

The association is dedicated to promoting, educating and preserving the natural beauty, cultural heritage, and local assets of the Whitewater Valley, and is behind a number of similar initiatives in Franklin, Ripley, Dearborn, Fayette, Union and Wayne counties.

The “Spirit of the Byway” Award will be handed to someone who has demonstrated dedication and commitment to the Whitewater Valley’s development.

This year’s keynote speaker is former Rushville resident David Willkie. He is the founder of Willkie Ventures, a finance company specializing in lending and investing.

His many accomplishments include a stint as Senior Professional for the Senate Foreign Relations Committee under former U.S. Senator from Indiana Richard Lugar.

Prior to his work on Capitol Hill, Willkie lived in New York City, where he served as a business industry expert for both 60 Minutes and 60 Minutes II on the CBS Television Network.

Event organizers say Willkie is a strong advocate for Indiana’s preservation and promotion.

He is also the grandson of 1940 Republican presidential nominee Wendell Willkie.

The cost is $20.24 per person and includes dinner. A cash bar will be available.
