William J. “Bill” Fay

William James “Bill” Fay, 78, of Elsmere, KY, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023, Edgewood, KY.

He was born October 15, 1944, in Covington, Kentucky son of the late Joseph Fay and Louise (Hubbard) Fay.

Bill worked as a Machinist for CSX Railroad, retiring after over 42 years of service. He then worked 13 more years with Bawac. He truly enjoyed working with and transporting special need adults, he was blessed by working with them.

He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Latonia, and the Knights of Columbus.

Bill loved fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife Geraldine. Their most memorable occasion was when they were married on top of the Cape Hatteras Light House.  They were always going to Florida, Gatlinburg, and to the New England States. He enjoyed watching golf and UK Basketball (he always said that he bled blue), and he loved to watch the ice skating events during the Olympics. He enjoyed partying with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his loving spouse, Geraldine (Baker) Fay, children, Rhonda Fay of Taylor Mill, KY, Debbie Fay (David) Long of Independence, KY, Vanessa Fay Brewer of Taylor Mill, KY, Billy Joe (Kelly) Fay of Fairfield, KY, step-daughters, Deanna Groce (David) McAtee of Lawrenceburg, IN, Laura Groce Widener of Lawrenceburg, IN; brother, Ronald (Christina) Fay of Cincinnati, OH: grandchildren, Joshua Fay, Brett Deck, Jamie Wilson, Derek Gregg, Dalton Long, Natasha Anderson, Corina Fay, Alaina Starks, Katlyn Starks, Bradley Fay, Cody Fay, Charlie Fay, Grant McAtee, Collin McAtee, Carter McAtee, Devin Widener and Riley Widener, and 19 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Louise Fay; daughter, Kay Fay.

Friends will be received Thursday, August 24, 2023, 9:30 am – 11:30 am at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3612 Church Street, Covington, KY. 41015.

Mass will be held at the church at 11:30 am with Father Michael Hennigen officiating.
