Wildcat Harriers Successful Against Cardinals And Twisters

Franklin County High School Girls Varsity Cross Country finishes 1st place at Seton Catholic/Oldenburg.

Despite warm temperatures, the Wildcat Girls Cross Country Team ran well on their home course. Junior, Lauren Kelley, was the top female finisher with a time of 22:29. Since boys and girls ran at the same time, she was also able to see how she compared to her male counter parts. She finished 12th out of a field of 29 runners, composed of both male and female athletes. Senior, Katelyn Meyer, was the second fastest female runner for Franklin County, finishing 3rd place for the women. Even though, the ladies ran on their home course, it was a new route from prior years. They were able to run tough, keep a consistent pace, and finish strong.

Franklin County High School Boys Varsity Cross Country finishes 2nd place at Seton Catholic/Oldenburg.

The Franklin County Boys Cross Country team competed against Oldenburg Academy and Seton Catholic on their FCHS home course. With only 5 points to separate them, Franklin county placed 2nd to Oldenburg. Oldenburg took the first 3 spots, but Franklin County took the 4th through 8th place spots. It just wasn’t enough to close the gap from the 3 top spots that Oldenburg earned, though. Sophomore, Ben Maze, the top runner for the Franklin County boys, placed 4th with a time of 20:30. Junior, Drew Grant was right behind him, in 5th place with a time of 20:35. Senior, Harvey Marshall, and Freshman, Hunter Marshall, ran really close splits for the first two miles, but Hunter pulled away in the 3rd mile and claimed the 6th spot for Franklin County. HIs time of 21:12 was 14 seconds faster than Harvey’s 7th place finish. The Franklin County boys ran a great race and placed well overall.

They’ll be ready to battle it out again on their home course against East Central on Thursday, September 5th.
