Area singers will give it their best shot tonight during the Country Showdown. The event is in conjunction with the Batesville Music and Arts Festival.
The 33rd annual showdown will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Liberty Park pavilion and is sponsored by Jim True Ford, Brookville and WRBI.
The winner of the Batesville contest will advance to the state competition and will have an opportunity at reaching a national final.
The 41st Batesville Music and Arts Festival featured the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra on Wednesday and the 16th annual RAA Community Art Show on Thursday.
In Brookville on Friday, the community is welcome to take part in the Hometown Throwdown. The event is sponsored by George’s Pharmacy.
Sidewalk sales, chicken dinners and beer garden, prize giveaways and live music will take place throughout the day at 5th and Main in downtown Brookville. The band, Pistol Holler, will perform at 7:00 p.m.
The Friendship Flea Market and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle competition is ongoing in Ripley County this weekend. Almost 500 vendor spaces are selling a wide variety of new and used antiques and collectibles. The spring national shoot takes place through Sunday.
