Virginia “Ginny” P. (Asche) Bergman, 89, Milan

Virginia “Ginny” P. (Asche) Bergman, 89, of Milan passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Ginny was born on Saturday, September 9, 1933 to Phillip and Georgia (Schmaltz) Asche.

Ginny spent her childhood life in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from Sterling High School in 1951. She worked at Morton Salt Company in Rittman, Ohio, for 8 years. She attended and graduated from Akron Beauty College as a Beautician. During the summer while she was in school, she worked at Smucker’s Company in Oroville, Ohio, and at the Glessmer Restaurant.

She met the love of her life, Kenneth Bergman, on September 25, 1958, and united in marriage at Finks Church. Ken and Ginny were married for 64 years. Ginny took on the new task moving from the city of Akron, Ohio, to the country. The young couple moved to Sunman and Milan to raise their 6 children. They were members of Adams Lutheran Church and raised their children in Christian Faith.

Ginny retired from Hillenbrand where she worked for over 25 years. Ginny loved gardening and planting flowers. She loved to go camping, was known as an amazing cook, loved to text with her friends and family, and just overall really loved her life. She loved her nieces and nephews dearly; they meant the world to her. Ginny cherished spending time with her loving family and friends.

Ginny will be deeply missed by her husband Ken Bergman of Milan; children Kendra Roberts of Cincinnati, Ohio, Doug (Jackie) Bergman of Milan, Chris (Lora) Bergman of Milan, Melissa (Jeff, who she loved like her own son) Ollman of Milan, Steve (Wendy) Bergman of Milan; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson on the way who she absolutely loved dearly; sister Marty (Bill) Hower of Lodi, Ohio; her good friends Krista Bryant, Margie Scudder, Bob and Posey Lauber; and sister at heart Dottie Wertz of Wooster, Ohio.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents Phillip and Georgia Asche; son Phillip “Mitch” Bergman; brothers Virgil (Ceil) Asche and Elmer (Donna) Asche; daughter-in-law Debbie Bergman; and nieces Glenna Asche and Roberta Bergman.

Family and friends may gather in remembering Ginny from 10 AM-12 PM Friday, June 16, 2023 at Adams Lutheran Church in Batesville; 9767 N Adams Church Rd, Batesville, IN 47006. A service will immediately follow at 12 PM with Pastor Mark Booster officiating. Burial will follow at Adams Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Ginny to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Ripley County Humane Society, or American Autism Association.
