Virginia Ann “Ginny” Scheller, 88, of Elizabethtown, Indiana passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.
Ginny was born in Jennings County Indiana December 28, 1934, the daughter of Herman and Helen Ley Hill. She married Al J. Scheller on June 25, 1955, in North Vernon; he preceded her in death on May 28, 2018.
She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour, Indiana, and St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Columbus, Indiana. She was a member of Prairie Promenaders and Bells and Beaux Square Dance Clubs. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and loved to cook and bake pies and listen to country music.
She is survived by daughters, Cathy (Pete) Schneider of Batesville, IN, and Patty Scheller of Greenwood, IN; sisters, Margaret (Lawrence) Effinger of Madison, IN, Wilma (Gerald) Ramseyer of Florida, and Elizabeth (Eric) Henderson of Westport, IN; brothers; Edmund Hill of Russiaville, IN, Gerald (Linda) Hill and Alfred (Betty) Hill both of Columbus; grandchildren, Mary (Eli) Buchanan of Batesville, IN, Amanda (Jeremy) Price of Chesterfield, MO, Peter J. (Lisa) and Andrew (Amanda) Schneider both of Batesville, IN; 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Norman and George Hill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Father Dan Staublin officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street in Columbus. Recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
