Virgil Larkin Kelly, 87, of New Point, passed away on November 22, 2023. He was born on February 7, 1936 in Harlan County, Kentucky, the son of Hays and Dora Boggs Kelly. Virgil married Lillie May Gifford on July 29, 1964. He worked as a drill man at New Point Stone Quarry for 27 years. Virgil enjoyed reading western books, telling stories. He loved doing yard work and gardening. He would tinker with things and take them apart just to see how they went back together, even if he couldn’t figure how it went back together.
Survivors include: Sons, Bobby (Rosa) Kelly, Troy (Felicia) Kelly and Shannon Kelly; Grandchildren, Tiffany (Brandyn) Ogden, Josh Kelly, Crystal Kelly, Kyle Kelly, Bradley Kelly, Dustin Kelly, Stacey Kelly, and Ora Murphy; several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents; Wife; Daughter, Tracey Stewart; Siblings, Hobert Kelly, Linton Kelly, Cindy Buckheart, Billy Kelly, William Kelly and Carter Kelly.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral at 1:00 pm. Rev. Mark Vice will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Rossburg Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the New Point Volunteer Fire Department.
