Violet Trossman, from Yorkville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Shady Nook Care Center, surrounded by family. Violet spent most of her life as a teacher and Principal at many schools in the area as a Franciscan nun. After retiring from teaching, she worked at Western & Southern in Cincinnati, Ohio. She also devoted her life to teaching religious education once or twice a week at various Churches.
She has always been thankful for her faith, her family and Church. She was patient in making decisions, had artistic ability, and was a good organizer and caregiver. She liked decorating her home, especially at Christmas. She was involved in the Church as a Eucharistic Minister, and being a leader of Faith Groups. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially making cookies for Church events, fundraisers and other charities in the area. She became known as the “Cookie Lady”.
Violet will be sadly missed by her family: Rita Duggins of Cincinnati, Ohio, Rose (Babe) Martini, and Floyd (Mary) Trossman all of Yorkville and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Loretta (Kuebel) Trossman, her brothers: Roy Trossman and Kenneth Trossman, sisters: infant Mary Trossman, Leah Davis, Jo Ann Buschur, Agnes Trossman and Lucille Trossman.
Services for Violet will be held on Thursday, March 14 at St. Martin’s Campus of All Saints Parish. Rosary will begin at 9:00am followed by visitation until the start of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
