(Dearborn County, IN) – A Lawrenceburg woman has been identified as the person killed in Tuesday afternoon’s motorcycle crash in Dearborn County.
Sheriff’s deputies say 67-year-old Peggy Smith died at the scene of the crash on the 5500 block of State Road 48.
She was the passenger on a 2018 Honda Trike driven by 67-year-old Michael Smith.
Deputies investigating the crash determined Michael Smith was operating the motorcycle when it left the roadway for an unknown reason, which caused the Trike to roll several times.
Both Michael and Peggy Smith were ejected for the motorcycle, and the couple was found lying in a yard by first responders.
CPR was performed on Peggy Smith but she was pronounced dead.
Michael Smith was Air Cared to UC Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
The Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from Indiana State Police, Lawrenceburg Police, Lawrenceburg Fire and EMS, the Manchester Fire Department, Aurora EMS and the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office.
